TARANTALLEGRA Review

JUNSU!! My bias from DBSK, now JYJ!! I'm excited for this review!!

Junsu's first solo album apart from TVXQ and JYJ, titled TARANTALLEGRA...apparently it's the spell from Harry Potter that makes you dance uncontrollably. Alright.

Intro-Sunset: This is the intro we hear at the beginning of the music video for Tarantallegra. It's AWESOME. Dark, bass from the string section, it sounds epic and fitting for setting the tone of the album and song Tarantellegra. It sounds like it belongs in the background for video game music. AWESOME!! Then it goes off into this type of electronic TRON era with the violins still playing. But it's awesome.

TARANTALLEGRA: THE INSTRUMENTAL is amazing!!! Just like the intro, this has the orchestra and timpani, sounding very dramatic! Then you have the beat come in. It sounds daebak. Then, Flowsik from Aziatix, who has also appeared on JYJ's works, he starts saying, "WHAT MUSIC WILL YOU LISTEN? HEY!" repeatedly. I FREAKING LOVE THAT PART, omg, I just go around saying that to people, "what music will you listen to?!". Junsu starts singing and then the chorus is just 'tarantallagra' all sped up and stuff. It's quite catchy. However, it's also mediocre. It's one of those songs that require you to envision the choreography as you listen. Since I saw the mv before listening to the actual song, I can't exactly tell how the song is without seeing the video in my head.  But I enjoyed it! LOVE IT! Veryyyy catchy.

The video itself is....yea. I didn't understand it, but the models were WERKING it! Shoutout to the foreign dancers and models, and the thick black girl. She was killing it!

Set Me Free ft Bizzy: This is a dance track meant to be in the clubs. It's ok, not outstanding or anything. Since the world is overdosing on pop/techno/house/dubstep, I get sick of it. But this is ok. Not a must listen in my opinion, very weak especially compared to just finishing the epic Tarantallegra.

No Gain: This song was produced and composed by fellow member Jaejoong. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. It's r&b and I love the harmonization and vocals of Junsu. I love this song, I want to learn it, I love it. Seriously. I like that's it slow, but his vocals are fast, I like that contrast. Brillaint. Love it, can't say it again.

I Don't Like Love: Another ballad, sounds very sad. Junsu's voice clearly shines through, no surprise. It's very nice, I want to sing it too. Any ballad with Junsu, I want to sing lol. Simply beautiful, I wish I could have his voice, his talent is impeccable!!

돌고 돌아도(Spinning Around): I believe that's what it means. This is very peaceful, also a ballad, it sounds like it belongs in a drama. Nothing too special about it, but sounds nice and a good song to listen to before going to sleep lol. This was composed by his brother Juno.

Intoxication: AHH HELL YEAH!!! The Korean version of his Japanese grown and sexy original. I freaking love this song. I prefer the original. This is slightly different in terms of instrumental, there's this guitar  playing more, apparently he's playing it. Awesome! Then there's more effects added to it. It's good, but like I said, I prefer the original. MAH JAM! In order to see the video AND the lyrics, just go to dailymotion.com to watch it. GO WATCH IT. Sexy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Breath ft Double K: Starts off with violins, kind of like a sequel to Tarantallegra, though not as epic. But once Junsu starts rapping, it's awesome! There's noting particularly amazing about this song, I just like his powerful rapping. And I love Double K in anything. I love his high note at the end.

알면서도(Knowing): I believe that's what it means. A ballad, sounds like it too belongs in a drama, I love it. His voice sounds amazing, I can feel the emotion in this song. Beautiful.

Lullaby ft Gaeko of Dynamic Duo: I love this!!!!! Very sultry, Junsu's voice is amazing, yet again, if you didn't already know. Has a r&b vibe, very soothing and sexy, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He sounds so sexy. I don't think the rap compliments the vibe, but it's sexy. It's like Intoxication Part 2 but more calmly. LOVE IT.

Fever: More upbeat compared to all the ballads. I like it, sounds like something I would hear on the radio. Not bad, but not amazing either. I like it compared to the other club/dance tracks on this album.

이슬을 머금은 나무(Dew Laden Trees): According to Google translate, that's what it means. I hope so lol. So, we close off the album with a ballad. It's beautiful of course, it's Junsu. It sounds like something I would love to sing in Noraebong!! Beautiful. I love Junsu's voice, forever and always lol

Overall: This album wasn't bad. The highlight is obviously Tarantallegra, simply because the rest of the album is filled with ballads accompanied with a couple dance and upbeat tracks. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, because Junsu's voice is suited for ballads. He's an AMAZING singer, so ballads clearly suit him. When he's on more upbeat tracks, his voice is slow, it doesn't really work with dance and what not. That's why I said you have to envision the choreography with the songs because it seems rather boring. Junsu needed his other members from DBSK and JYJ to complete him. I LOVE JUNSU, but he's not really suited for dance tracks for some reason. I like Tarantallegra, Lullaby, and No Gain. I would include Intoxication but that song has already been released. Apart from those, the album is ok. His ballads aren't beautiful, but I'm coming out  of my ballad phase. This is a perfect album for Junsu fans!! I love his voice, seriously, but I wasn't expecting there to be so many ballads...but still, the album is good!!
