Gu Family Book Episode 1 Review

What a great 1st episode!! It's basically a backdrop for our main characters so Seunggi and Suzy have not appeared yet. But still!! I was more intrigued with these characters that I did not care if they didn't show up hahaa.
Yoon Seo Hwa is being sold as a gisaeng along with her brother and friend. She really doesn't want to become a gisaeng given their roles so to break her stubborn ways, the head of gisaengs has her stripped and tied to a tree.
Looking at all this is the Gumiho(Nine tailed fox, Korean legend Google it) and contemplates saving her or not since he is forbidden to mingle with human destiny. He can't control himself however and does find a way to keep her from dying of starvation.
She becomes a gisaeng in order to save her brother from death.
We are given a flashback to the father of Seo Hwa who is killed by Jo Gwan Woong on the accusation of treason, who was his good friend. Dang.

So Seo Hwa has to first serve none other than her father's killer Jo Gwan Woong, but to keep this from happening, Seo Hwa switches places with her best friend Dam and escapes, while Dam has to sleep with Gwan Woong. That's love.
Seo Hwa and her brother escape together but they decide to go their separate ways. Gwan Woong finds out that he wasn't given the real Seo Hwa and gets real pissed and alerts officials to go after her.
Right before Seo Hwa is caught, Gu Wol Ryung the name of the gumiho saves her and scares off the hunters. Scary, that part was dope!!
Seo Hwa's brother however, got caught unfortunately and is hanged in the streets...T__T. Dam finds out and rushes to see his death. Soon after, she goes to hang herself too, they both loved each other. Awwwwwwwwwww. Sad.

Seo Hwa is with Gu Wol Ryung and he explains that she is safe with him. He wants to find the Gu Family Book, hence the name of the drama, so he can become human since he has fallen in love with Seo Hwa. Gah. He's so sexy. And so their story begins!!

This was a GREAT first episode!! I really enjoyed it!! I hate Lee Yeon Hee's acting, it was so freaking awkward, I feel like she showed the wrong emotions or her emotions didn't reach her eyes. But I'm sure she'll be better than Suzy. Shade. The plot seems interesting, even though we know that more tragedy is on the way, but so is Lee Seunggi's puppy face!!
