This episode was filled with sadness, and agony, and a major connection is revealed through a bunch of important flashbacks.
Just as he's about to unmask his brother, Kang-to is knocked unconscious. NOOOOOOOOOOOO. OF FREAKING COURSE THAT WOULD HAPPEN! Anyways, Kang-san goes to nurse his bullet wound in is leg. Kang-san talks with his bodyguard, the one that hit Kang-to in the back of the head. There's a flashback as Kang-san explains why he was tortured, because of the Independence Army and pretended to be the village idiot. He uses this as a cover to avenge his father's death and help the Independence Army. Ahh, ok, now we know his reason for being Gaksital. Kang-san his a Hit List, a target of 5 men that are apart of the secret kishokai. There's a flashback of the secret council, revealing they betrayed Lee Sun, they pledged allegiance to each other and to extract Emperor Gojong from the palace 13 years ago. They killed him and this sparked the Independence movement.
Back to the future, Kono throws a fit at Kimura, he wants to know the connection of the men that have died by Gaksital.
Meanwhile, Kang-to is still reeling over the fact that Gaksital saved him and is really pressed that Kang-san is perhaps Gaksital. He rushes home and finds Kang-san holding a pair of bloody clothes. He attacks him, demanding he reveal a bullet wound, but Kang-san starts screaming and calling out for Mother. She tells Kang-to to leave him alone and that people in the village take their anger at Kang-to out on Kang-san so he has many bruises. Kang-to finally stops. DAMN THATS SADDDDDDDDDD.
Next day, the new leading lady but on the bad team, Rie makes her entrance, she's Ueno's daughter, the big man in charge so she has to be treated extra special. She bad, I like her even though she's on the bad side.
Kang-to goes out, while Mok Dan is too dressed as a man since she is Public Enemy #2, and wants to get her knife back. Ughh, lame. Kang-to sees her flashlight at the motel he found her in, and finds her again. She explains she only came back for the knife and it hits him, he's the one that gave her the knife! Ah, so he was the boy that's so special to her, not Shunji. Well. So there's another flashback of how they met. Boon Yi/Mak Dan was trying to go to Manchuria, but her mother died. Lee Sun (Kang-to and Kang-san's father) and his family are traveling to Manchuria also, so they pick her up and they live together for a month. They almost reach Manchuria, but they are all of a sudden attacked and it brings us back to the flashback scenes in the previous episodes.
And so it's fate. They are obviously meant to be together.
Kang-to goes to get drunk with Shunji and he yells out that even though she is Boon Yi, his long lost friend, he will still kill her. She will continue to be used as bait for Gaksital. Damn. In this scene, you can really tell that he is so consumed and obsessed, it's scary and brilliant. Good job Joo won, saranghae.
Kang-to goes to his home and goes into the room with Kang-san and lays next to him. Reminiscing and crying and saying the reason why he's with the Japanese. Kang-to tried working but that money wouldn't cover much, trying to survive, he tried to pay for Kang-san's tuition at university. Heartbreaking!! He had no other way but to side with the Japs. Damn. This was a sad ass scene, jeez. It took everything in me to keep from crying lol.
Of course Kang-san heard everything.
The next day, they all eat breakfast together, awwwwwwwwwwww.
Just as Kang-to is leaving, he is shot at with an arrow and his quick reflex skills caused him to dodge it. Damn. Like it came out of nowhere, if that was me, I would've been dead. Anyways, earlier, after Mok Dan left Kang-to to his memories, she returned to her circus crew and they all agreed to kill him. 0.o well then. So the person that shot at him was Mok Dan which was created to lure him in to the trap. However, Kang-to ends up shooting her. Well. Woops.
I think the love line is irrelevant but I guess it makes for interesting conflict. Shunji loves Mok Dan, Kang-to now has feelings for Mok Dan. I find it extremely ridiculous that Mok Dan is both Shunji and Kang-to's childhood friend. Like, what are the odds?!!! I wonder what Rei is gonna stir up too. Anyways, it seems that next episode Kang-to finds out that Kang-san is Gaksital so stick around!!!!!!!!
