The Heirs Episode 1 Review

It's finally here! After much anticipation for a year now, 'The Heirs' or 'Inheritors' debuted last night in Korea! 20 episodes of typical teenage angst with the same story line we see over and over. Can't wait. I'm going to let you know, I'm tuning into this negatively so forgive me if my writing seems a little too sarcastic and might offend you. I'll try to be mutual.

Lee Min Ho plays Kim Tan our main actor. Don't know much about his character except he was kind of kicked out of his super rich and crazy family. He surfs, hangs out with white people and parties hard, doesn't really do anything he just spends his time trying to figure out why his family hates him. Blah blah blah ANGST. Just know that he's super rich and definitely flaunts his money around.
Park Shin Hye as Cha Eun Sang. Our heroine who is really poor. She lives a hard working life trying to survive with her mother who works for the family of Kim Tan. Tired of her life and wanting to be successful, she goes to America to find her sister who is supposedly getting married. She isn't and instead lives the life of a bum whoring around for money and alcohol and drugs is what I'm assuming. When Eun Sang arrives in LA to meet her, her sister STEALS HER MONEY. BISHHHHHHHHHH. So Eun Sang is hella broke, still believes in her sister, and has a huge break down in the middle of the street. Kim Tan sees this go down and he feels sympathetic. He gets involved when his white friend mistakes her bean powder for drugs and has an allergic reaction. Ugh. In the end Tan ends up offering Eun Sang a chance to stay at his home since her sister lives with another man who has a girlfriend and just UGH TOO MUCH.
Kim Ji Won who I ABSOLUTELY LOVE as Rachel Yoo, the main bitch who runs things. She is engaged to Kim Tan. Don't know much about her character also just that she hates her mom and who wouldn't. Definitely a spoiled brat but like I said, I love Ji Won personally so even though her character will get under my skin I still love her. Because she's Kim Ji Won lol.
Kim Woo Bin as Choi Young Do, who plays our Douche #2. He's a bully in school who also gets what he wants and flaunts his money around. He is the stepbrother of Rachel Yoo but he called her 'his type' MEANING CRUEL INTENTIONS YASSSS. If that's the direction we're going in, then I'm here for this drama haha. Not much on his character. His dad treats him like crap too and beats him which explains why he torments poor people.
Minhyuk from CNBlue as Yoon Chan Young. Not much on his character just that he might have a slight crush on Eun Sang and they are childhood friends however he has a girlfriend.
Krystal as Lee Bo Na. She's horrible. She's extremely spoiled and BRATTY also a Bitch and Krystal's acting was horrible. Not much on her character her though except she is Chan Young's annoyingly clingy girlfriend.
Choi Jin Hyuk (YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSS the ONLY PERSON I'M HERE FOR) as Kim Won who plays the horrible, cold hearted half-brother of Kim Tan. He's trying to take over the family company which is why he sends Tan away to America.

So there you have it. This is supposed to be a Gossip Girl-esque drama. That's fine but I'm not feeling it. I think the cast is too large we can't delve into the characters all that much. I know we only have 20 episodes instead of 10 seasons of plot development so they have to cut it short, but with so many main leads I can't feel sympathy for anyone because we don't see their character development. Granted this is only the first episode but this drama is very predictable. Kim Eun Sook just drew inspiration from the tired plots we've seen a thousand times. Hopefully it'll get better but I'm trying hard not to band my head on the wall. The screen writer is horrible, whoever came up with this script is terrible the lines are awful and cheesy. The producer is bad too, the constant cut in between the characters doesn't give me a chance to understand who these people are. So as time goes by I hope this drama gets better...but the lines are so cheesy and predictable it's killing me.
