Melodrama/Makjang:

  1. Five Fingers (Piano Forest): A great makjang drama (If you don't know what a makjang is google it) about the rivalry between 2 brothers. I reviewed this drama so you can check my recommendation on it! (Starring Ji Chang Wook, Joo Ji Hoon, Chae Si-ra)
  2. Bad Guy: Another makjang drama about a guy getting revenge on a family. (Starring Kim Nam Gil, Han Ga In, Oh Yeon Soo)
  3. Que Sera, Sera: A man and a woman go through different situations together and no matter what they keep getting torn apart because they are from 2 different backgrounds. (Starring Eric Moon of Shinhwa, Jung Yoo mi)
  4.  I Miss You: Complicated love story about a man and a woman who go through a tragedy that tests the strengh of their love. (Starring Yoochun, Yoo Seung ho and Yoon Eun Hye)
  5.  Nice Guy (The Innocent Man): A man that will do anything for the woman he loves but she backstabs so in order to get revenge, he falls in love with her step-daughter. (Starring Song Joong Ki, Moon Chae-Won, Park Si Yeon)
  6.  Bridal Mask (Gaksital): THE drama of 2012. A vigilante is born in order to fight the Japanese imperialists in Korea during 1930's. (Starring Joo Won, Park Ki Woong)
  7.  That Winter the Wind Blows: Currently airing, amazing, the best melodrama I've ever seen. A man cons a blind woman into thinking he's her brother to steal her money. (Starring Jo In Sung, Song Hye Ko, Kim Bum, Eunji)
  8.  Padam Padam: A man does everything he can to change his past around after being wrongly convicted of a crime and sent to prison. However his time is limited and must fufill his desires before his death. (Starring Jung Woo Sung, Han Ji Min, Kim Bum)
  9.  Baker King Kim Tak Gu: This drama fits under a lot of categories but it's a typical makjang but no that over the top as Five Fingers is. It was EXTREMELY popular in Korea, has one of the highest viewer ratings in history. A feel good underdog story about a man trying to bake and surpass his father but is thrown in many obstacles. This started Joo Won's career too!! (Starring Joo Won, Eugene, Yoon Shi Yoon, Jun Kwang, Ryul)
  10.  School 2013: This is more of a drama, not necessarily a melodrama because it has it's comedic moments too! One of the best dramas of the year, and personally one of my favorite. This is the 5th season of "School" which is a popular drama that started back in the 90's so it's a franchise. Basically about the troubles of high school and trying to survive all the obtacles thrown our way. BEST BROMANCE EVER you will cry, I promise you haha. (Starring Lee Jong Suk, Kim Woo Bin, Daniel Choi, and Jang Nara)
  11. The Chaser: This is the best drama I have ever seen. Seriously it was absolutely perfect.
  12. Secret Love

Action/Suspense/Psychological

  1. White Christmas: A psychological thriller about high school students trapped in the mountains at school with a serial killer (no scary at all just makes you think). (Starring Kim Woo Bin, Sung Joon, Kwak Jung Wook, Baek Sung-hyun)
  2.  Iris: One of the best action dramas ever made in Korea, HUGE hit. A man recruited in the NSS (National Security Service) tries to take down another agency called 'Iris' and deals with North Korean agents...to put it lightly. GREAT drama, extremely popular watch it!!! (Starring Lee Byung-hun, Kim Tae hee, TOP of Big Bang, Jung Joon ho)
  3. Warrior Baek Dong-soo: Action drama about the historical tale of Dong-soo and his friend turned enemy. One of the greatest bromances I've ever seen and FILLED with eye candy. (Starring Ji Chang Wook, Yoo Seung Ho, Choi Min Soo, Jun Kwang-ryul)
  4. City Hunter: A man tries to avenge his best friends death and takes care of the man's son. The son grows up however and notices how corrupt his surrogate father has begun and must stop him. (Starring Lee Min Ho, Park Min Young,
  5. Bridal Mask
  6. Sign: A medical, mystery, psychological drama, like the Korean CSI. (Starring Jun Kwang-ryul,
  7. Master's Sun
  8. Heartless City

Rom-Coms

  1.  You're Beautiful: Extremely popular internationally, a nun in training pretends to be her brother and joins a boy group and foolishness ensues; a gender bender. Even though it's silly, it seriously made me laugh!! (Starring Park Shin Hye, Lee Hongki of FT Island, Jang Seuk, Yonghwa of CN Blue and UEE of After School).
  2.  History of a Salaryman: This drama fits into the melodrama makjang catergory also but it has ALOT of funny moments. HILARIOUSSSSSSSS. A satirical drama about the world of company men, pokes fun at Korean society and business and how corrupt it is. FAVORITE DRAMA WATCH IT. (Starring Lee Bum Soo, Jung Ryeo Won,
  3.  King of Dramas: Give a great behind the scenes look on how dramas are made and how difficult it is to make sure things go smoothly. HILARIOUSSSSSSS and tear jerking and heart felt. Siwon is hilarious in this even if you don't like him WATCH IT (Starring Jung Ryeo Won, Siwon of Super Junior, Kim Myung Min)
  4.  Full House: Drama that shot Rain to super stardom, a typical rom-com but before rom-coms got typical haha. I watched this before all the silly dramas that have come out now but it's a Korean Classic!! (Starring Rain, Song Hye Go)
  5.  Boys Over Flowers: Internationally popular, remakes of Taiwanese and Japanese dramas. It's quite silly but it's a drama that EVERYONE should've watched regardless of if you're into it or not, it's on the Korean Classics list. (Starring Lee Min Ho, Kim Hyun Joong of SS501, Kim Bum,
  6.  Sungkyunkwan Scandal: Another historical gender bender about a girl disguised as a boy to get her education (women weren't allowed to obviously) and she meet's 3 friends that don't know her secret except for the man she falls in love with. (Starring Yoochun, Song Joong Ki, Park Min Young, Yoo Ah In)
  7.  Rooftop Prince: I'm only recommending this drama because it was super cute and funny and had a refreshing idea. 4 men from the Joseon era are magically transported to modern Korea and the prince has to solve his wife's murder but in the present time he falls in love with someone else. (Starring Yoochun, Han Ji Min)
  8. Baker King Kim Tak Gu
  9.  Shut Up Flower Boy Band: A part of the 'Flower Boy' franchise (Flower Boy Ramyun Shop, Flower Boy Next Door, Shut Up Flower Boy Band) this is in my opinion the best in the franchise!! It's about high schoolers trying to be the best band and beat their rivals to fulfill the dream of their dead best friend. Very touching story!! (Starring Sung Joon, Kwak Jung Wook, L of Infinite,)
  10.  The Greatest Love: A HILARIOUS and heart warming love story between 2 celebrities that come from different worlds and the obstacles that are constantly thrown their way. (Starring Cha Seung Won and Gong Hyo Jin)
  11.  Coffee Prince: One of Korea's most talked about drama that stirred up alot of attention! A beautiful love story, also a gender bender! You know how that goes...
  12. What's Up: Pretty much the Korean version of Glee only it's not as cheesy. It's filled with great laughable moments, romance, and heart-breaking pain but reveals that true meaning of friendship and faith at the end of the day. Also one of my favorite dramas. (Starring Im Joo Hwan, Daesung of Big Bang, Oh Man Suk, and Kim Ji Won)
  13. I Hear Your Voice: This drama can be a mixture of alot of things, but I decided to stick this into the romantic comedy section.
  14. You Who Came From the Stars
